Bangladeshi ISPs, suggest me which one is better!

November 12th, 2008

Purpose of this post is to create a discussion group here and get opinions from all of you people who are using a Bangladeshi ISP or looking for a better ISP. In my old blog I wrote on Citycell Zoom, and I was amazed to see the responses from people here in Bangladesh. Mainly, it showed that majority of our people were not satisfied with their both mobile internet and broadband internet connection.  So I decided to write another post on this so that people can get idea from different corner and different users from  around the country. It might help those who are looking for a better connection.

Let me share my own experience here, although I did it in my old post but just updating it here again.I started the internet career with UCN ISP, which sucked me badly….service was too poor and speed? Just forget it! Then I moved to X-net, they have very good service and speed as well, but caution! They are not that good for corporate service. If you are an individual then its perfect ISP for you. But right now I’m using True Net, I have been using it for last 6/7 months and now I can say they are stable! I like their service and care they got for customers. They are also good for corporate service, because my company is using their connection too!

What is your experience with Bangladeshi ISPs? Which ISP would you suggest for Bangladeshi internet users?

P.s: A list of Bangladeshi ISPs can be found here

Subscribe RSS news from Prothom-alo blog

November 11th, 2008

I like to read my all web blogs/news on my Google reader. Prothom-alo blog, yet to add a RSS news subscription button on their blog site, but RSS feed news are there. Just we have to find out how to subscribe them and how to get the correct location for subscription. I’m sure Prothom-alo blog will add a subscription button very soon on their site.

But I thought for time being maybe I can just let users know how to subscribe feed news of an author, feature blogs and latest blogs.

For example, this is my homepage location in prothom-alo blog: http://prothom-aloblog.com/users/base/junal and this will be subscription URL for my latest post: http://prothom-aloblog.com/feed/posts/user/junal

Now you wan to subscribe featured blogs, here: http://prothom-aloblog.com/feed/posts/featured

For latest post: http://prothom-aloblog.com/feed/posts/latest

One more thing, it has another good way to subscribe a news/blogs. Almost all latest browsers (mostly Firefox latest version) have this option to subscribe by clicking on the RSS logo which can be found in the address bar of Firefox. Let’s say you want to subscribe a page, visit it and check of the RSS logo is enable, if so that means you can subscribe this page. Just click on it and subscribe to your RSS reader.

A fresher question – if I don’t get chance to work then how will I get experience?

November 8th, 2008

I have been hearing this question a lot for last one or two years. Two years back I used to ask this question to myself and seniors as well. I was desperately looking for a job just after completing my under graduation. I dropped my resume to many places and they didn’t call me just because I didn’t have any previous experience except some university projects.

I don’t know, I feel, I have this soft corner for fresher, so whenever I can, just try to help them, encourage them make them believe that they can overcome this situation. Well, because I believe in hard work and I came out from this situation!

So, I better tell all fresher how I came out from this situation, maybe it will help them.

I started my journey with the help of Ahsan, he actually recommended me to that company named Alliance Creation and I carried the rest. [Note: it's always good to stay in touch with some Senior IT developers; so that, somehow they know u have some capability to work]. They used to work on PHP project and I was studying on .NET at that time. My all university projects where done by either Java or .Net. [Note: please try to do your university project by yourself; do solve the same problem using different language] So it was completely new scripting language for me to start with. But as I was desperate to be a developer, I took the challenge. At the beginning, life was hell because I was a dumb!! A super dumb who didn’t know how to submit a form using PHP, Who didn’t know how to get value from returned Array (). Well, our universities don’t teach us, do they? But I accepted all those criticism and kept myself positive. My starting salary was surely lower than a rickshaw driver [Note: please don't care about your starting salary!]. After 6 months of work  I decided to leave the company because I got enough confident to work on other better places. But company requested me to stay with them. I did! But in next 6 months I joined TripperLabs which was my third company!

Ok, I’m using too much “first person” here, sorry for that. But my intention is not to talk about myself; rather I want to inspire you that you can!

My former colleague Emran wrote a similar post here, I guess you can get more help from there. Just finishing this with some request…

Try to..

  • Stay positive
  • Work hard, damn hard and believe you can!
  • Be a quick learner
  • Have problem solving ability!
  • Be good at communication

All the best for you newcomer!
